The 2025 Infiniti QX80 doesn't have any major weak spots, but there's nothing about it that fully stands out either. In a class of vehicles with some real standouts, merely being good isn't good enough.Read full review

2025 INFINITI QX80 Review
Pros
- High-quality interior with impressive tech
- Plenty of passenger room in all three rows
- High towing capacity
Cons
- Ride quality isn't as smooth as with some competing SUVs
- Large size can make it difficult to maneuver around town
Overview

After 14 long years without any significant updates, Infiniti's largest and most expensive SUV finally gets a complete redesign for 2025. Although the smaller QX50 and QX60 received overhauls, the outgoing QX80 soldiered on far too long without a redesign, making it one of the least competitive models in its class. Infiniti makes up for that with a much more compelling third-generation QX80. The new flagship SUV oozes luxury, boasts top-notch tech features, and still fulfills SUV duties thanks to a massive cabin and a stout towing capacity of 8,500 pounds.

Edmunds spotlight: The QX80's notable changes for 2025
The QX80's new interior is thoroughly luxurious, tech-forward, and constructed with high-quality materials. However, tech is where the new QX80 made its biggest leap forward. The new 14.3-inch dual display screens have excellent graphics and showcase Infiniti's latest infotainment system. It's significantly better than the last system and has integrated Google apps, including Google Maps. Other standard tech includes a package of advanced driver aids called ProPilot Assist 1.1 and a Klipsch audio system. The optional ProPilot Assist 2.1 is a new hands-free driving system that works on certain highways. Power is now provided by a 450-horsepower turbocharged V6 that's 2 mpg more efficient than the previous V8 and produces 50 more hp and over 100 more lb-ft of torque.
Competitors to consider
The 2025 QX80 is a huge improvement over the previous dated model. But as compelling as this SUV is, the Infiniti is up against some stiff competition including the equally large and impressive Lincoln Navigator and Cadillac Escalade, both of which receive major updates for 2025. The Mercedes-Benz GLS and BMW X7 aren't as large as the QX80, but they are superbly luxurious and more comfortable.

Good
7.8
out of 10
We drove the 2025 INFINITI QX80 on our test track and on real roads. Our Edmunds team conducts rigorous independent vehicle testing, driving 500,000 miles a year.
Performance
7.5/10
How does the QX80 drive? The QX80's turbocharged V6 offers good low-end power for easy acceleration around town and getting to speed on the highway. The transmission shifts smoothly too. The biggest issue with the powertrain is its engine stop-start system. It's slow to turn the engine off when you come to a stop and then slow again when it's time to fire it back up. This feature is supposed to help with saving gas, but we expect it to be a lot less intrusive on a luxury vehicle.
The QX80 is a very heavy SUV, weighing in at more than three tons. Braking performance is up to the task, with relatively short panic stops during our performance testing. In most other areas, however, the QX80 feels like the big SUV it is. The steering requires some muscle, making it a bit of work to park. The air suspension keeps body motions in check, but there's still some roll and lean in corners.

Comfort
8/10
How comfortable is the QX80? The QX80 has three rows of seating. Heated, ventilated and massaging seats are available for both the first and second rows; heating is available for third-row passengers. The seats are well padded and offer sufficient lateral support to hold you in place. Ride comfort is a mixed bag, however. While the QX80 is smooth and comfortable on the highway, it rides a bit too firmly on city streets to fully be comfortable.
The QX80 is quiet and isolating on the street. Unless you have the gas pedal floored, the engine makes hardly any noise. Wind and road noise is also fairly mild thanks to laminated windows and a well-insulated cabin.

Interior
8/10

The front seats offer a lot of adjustability, so you should be able to get your preferred driving position without issue. The QX80 is pretty easy to see out of, though the tall hood will block your view ahead somewhat. The surround-view camera offers lots of helpful angles and makes parking much easier.

Technology
8/10
How’s the tech? The QX80's infotainment system has Google integration for voice commands, navigation and more. It's nice to have, and the user interface as a whole is simple and responsive. The Google integration works best if you have a Google account to use, but having Google Maps alone is worth it. Wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is standard if you prefer to use your phone. There is a wireless charging pad and a bunch of USB-C ports spread across all three rows, so charging on the go shouldn't be an issue.
Infiniti offers the QX80 with some relatively advanced driver aids, including limited hands-free highway driving. It's impressive on paper, but in practice we found the system to be less refined than something like Super Cruise, which is found in the Cadillac Escalade.

Storage
8/10
How’s the storage? One of the biggest selling points for this class of body-on-frame SUVs is their impressive towing capacity, and the QX80 doesn't disappoint. The Infiniti's 8,500-pound maximum tow rating outshines nearly everything else in this class short of the Jeep Grand Wagoneer.
Cargo capacity is a bit lacking for a big luxury SUV. With 22 cubic feet of space behind the third row, the QX80 trails the Cadillac Escalade and Jeep Grand Wagoneer. It's a similar situation with the second and third rows folded down. On the upside, there are plenty of places up front for small items like sunglasses, smartphones and parking passes. The available chilled center console is deep enough to fit tall water bottles, great for keeping drinks cold on a long drive. Installing a child seat is relatively easy, especially with the air suspension lowered. There are easily accessible anchors on both the second- and third-row seats.

Fuel Economy
7/10
How’s the fuel economy? The Infiniti QX80 gets an EPA-estimated 18 mpg combined for the rear-wheel-drive model, or 17 mpg combined for the four-wheel-drive QX80. That's on par with everything in this class — none of them get particularly good fuel economy.
Value
7.5/10
Is the QX80 a good value? Infiniti's pricing for the QX80 is average for this class. We like the amount of features it comes with, though some rivals include four- or all-wheel drive as standard equipment. There are nice materials for upholstery and trim, and we didn't notice any rattles or poor fit and finish on our test vehicle. Infiniti includes a four-year/60,000-mile basic and six-year/70,000-mile powertrain warranty for the QX80, plus four years/60,000 miles of roadside assistance.
Wildcard
7.5/10
Compared to rivals like the Cadillac Escalade, Lincoln Navigator, Jeep Grand Wagoneer and Mercedes-Benz GLS, the Infiniti QX80 has a distinctive look that's both luxurious and distinctly Japanese. We just wish it was a little more involving or exciting to drive.
2025 INFINITI QX80 trim level differences
The 2025 Infiniti QX80 is a three-row luxury SUV that comes in four trim levels: Pure, Luxe, Sensory and Autograph. The Pure and Luxe are offered in rear- or four-wheel drive, but the Sensory and Autograph are only available with four-wheel drive. All trims are powered by a turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine (450 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque) connected to a nine-speed automatic transmission. The QX80 seats seven passengers with the standard second-row captain's chairs or eight with the optional second-row bench seats.
Which QX80 trim does Edmunds recommend?
Although the base Pure trim comes generously equipped with a long list of features, we think the Luxe offers the most features for the money. The Luxe's adaptive air suspension provides better ride comfort and the second-row seats are power-folding, which helps make life a little easier. It also includes two features luxury cars should have: real leather upholstery and ventilated seats. For hands-free driving on certain highways, add ProPilot Assist 2.1.

This is my third Infiniti vehicle, and I’ve been anticipating a bold new release — the 2025 QX80 exceeds all expectations. While it carries a premium price tag, its design, performance, and features make it well worth the investment. Congratulations to Infiniti on a job well done.

2025 INFINITI QX80 SENSORY 4dr SUV 4WD (3.5L 6cyl Turbo 9A)
My dream car was the QX80. I recently purchased the pure model and after 3 months I regretted it! The vehicle didn't ride smooth the transmission seemed to snatch into gears and the brakes had to be pressed super hard. So, I purchased the Sensory model, and I have put 200 miles on it and it already has electrical problems. The service department where I purchased the vehicles from has … failed every time I/We set up a service for my vehicle. I thought purchasing a "nice" vehicle I would be so happy with my purchase however I regret it daily!!
