2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe Trailhawk LEMON
I am only writing this review to hopefully help someone else avoid making the mistake that I did. I just leased my 3rd grand Cherokee in November 2023- a 2024 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk 4xe. I have about 7,000 miles on it, but it has already been in the shop over 4 times. The most annoying thing is that the backup lines disappeared a week after getting the car, and there is no fix for it. So I’ve been paying an insane amount of money for a car that does not even have that basic feature. I also had it in the shop for the defrost recall. Then about 6 weeks ago it was making loud banging noises when I went over any bump. They had to replace both lower control arms in the suspension as they were “a manufacturing defect” according to the shop. Unfortunately, that did not even fix the problem and it turns out the anti vibration bracket is cracked. I have been waiting since 7/10 for that part to come in- totally unacceptable. 2 weeks ago the sensor on the tires malfunctioned and all tires were treading critically low so that also had to be fixed. CarPlay sometimes decides to stop working and the only way to get it back on is to do a factory reset. Just last week I did that FOUR times. This car absolutely sucks. I’m beyond disappointed as I have always loved them. I am opening a lemon law case in hopes that I can get rid of it. I would 100% not get another one of those again. Stay away!

Not happy with the hybrid technology.
Previously I leased a 2020 Grand Cherokee Limited and had no issues. I have a 3 mile commute to work so I put less than 10k miles per year on my car. Turned my 2020 jeep in with 20k miles. Was very happy with Jeep and the dealership so I decided to try the Jeep 2024 Grand Cherokee 4xe. I’ve been driving the 2024 hybrid Jeep for one month now and I encountered, on three separate occasion, a very long delay when the electric battery and combustion engine are communicating. During this delay there is no acceleration. One occasion, I was driving my daughters to school and the delay occurred when trying to drive onto a two lane highway. I was not able to accelerate (felt like we were stuck in neutral) An 18 wheel tractor trailer almost hit us from behind…within inches. Horrible experience. Still losing sleep over this experience. I brought the Jeep back to the dealership and they said that this is the characteristics of a hybrid car. There is nothing that they can do unless Stellantis rolls out a software update or recall to fix this problem. Now I have this car for another 3 years and have no trust in it! I would appreciate any suggestions on how to avoid this delay pushing the hybrid car into a neutral state. On a separate note, I am a very safe driver. I read the owners manual and I am also paying attention to the hints from the Jeep app. I.e. accelerate and decelerate slowly, consistent speed, etc. but this issue continued to occur for a second and third time.

Currently renting a 2024 Cherokee hybrid. Shift i
I'm renting the subject car, and I'm very surprised at a few issues. I've had it for 5 days. On 2 occasions the car refuses to shift out of 1st gear after an initial start. Both times it didn't become apparent until trying to merge into traffic. Engine noise and tach spiked and the car could not get past 29Mph. After pulling over, I cycled the electronic shifter a few times, and it settled down - but I'm not sure why. Either the trans is low on oil, or this thing is a real pos. I can't believe this is a $60k car.

Worst car to buy
Car suddenly stopped and wouldn’t move at all. Road side assistance wouldn’t work. It took about 2 hours for them to answer my call on a Sunday. Brand new car with 800 miles on it. Dealer will take up to 72 hours for them to give me an update. Very disappointed

Almost Got Us Stranded
We rented this Jeep to drive from Missouri to central Illinois. Each way is about 200 miles. At first I was excited to get this car, as it looked great and it’s a hybrid. The interior is roomy, but the materials, while nice to look at, didn’t feel premium. The first 10 local miles were good. The battery still had juice and provided smooth acceleration. But the battery ran out quickly on the highway and the gas engine alone really struggled to pull the vehicle. But that’s not the worst part. Half way to our destination, a serious problem developed. Every time I accelerated, there was a loud clunk under the front end. I could feel the impact in the car. It felt like the front transfer case kept trying to engage but couldn’t, or maybe the transmission was slamming into every gear. After a while, a warning message popped up on the dash “Service 4WD”. We managed to get to our destination, but the warning light stayed on the dash and the car drove like crap around town. There was no way I would drive my family 200 miles home in a car with a failing drivetrain. After making numerous calls to the rental company’s roadside assistance and jumping through their hoops, they finally agreed to swap it out with a much smaller car. But I felt relieved. At least we could get back safely without the risk of getting stranded in the middle of nowhere. It’s hard to believe a 2024 model with only 15k miles could develop such a major drivetrain issue. I would never buy this car personally, at any price.
