Like its diesel-powered counterpart, the 2025 Mercedes-Benz eSprinter makes a compelling pick for fleet and delivery services, trade professionals and even outdoor enthusiasts. But instead of a combustion engine, the eSprinter combines a substantial battery pack mounted under its long, flat floor with a punchy electric motor driving the rear wheels. A second smaller battery pack joins the eSprinter lineup this year, and it helps to increase the electric van's payload limit. Even with the lighter pack, though, the eSprinter falls short of what its diesel relative can shoulder.

Edmunds spotlight: Mercedes expands its electric reach
For 2025, the eSprinter builds on its initial single configuration — long wheelbase (170 inches), high roof, massive 113-kWh battery — with a new short-wheelbase version that offers a standard 8-foot tall roof and a smaller 81-kWh battery. That battery is also optional for the longer, taller van. The smaller battery promises to be a good fit for users not using a whole lot of daily range. Mercedes estimates that the smaller battery is good for approximately 150 miles while the bigger battery is good for about 206 miles. For charging, the eSprinter can accept Level 2 charging at up to 9.6 kW and comes standard with fast-charging capabilities at up to 50 kW. While this should suffice for most overnight charging scenarios, if you need to charge on the go quicker, you can upgrade to 115-kW fast charging.
Competitors to consider
The eSprinter joins a small group of electric work vans that include the Ford E-Transit and Ram ProMaster EV. The Ford is limited to 159 miles of range but offers more roof and length configurations and costs less. The Ram ProMaster EV gets up to 174 miles of range and should charge much quicker with its maximum 150-kW charge rate. But the Ram could cost even more than the pricey eSprinter despite less payload capacity and fairly basic interior and tech features.
