Macan S - Ultimate driving pleasure
I love my Macan S it drives so well and I treasure every moment of it. For the features it’s fairly priced. The only thing you should be prepared is high cost of servicing every time you take it to a Dealer you end up paying $2-3 k minimum..

The Plus of Porsche Engineering
A Macan S has become my daily driver after two VW Golf Rs. On the cusp of 80, I still wanted a car with a sporting character, but something that was blessedly quiet and that could accommodate easily a couple of friends and their golf clubs. I considered an Audi SQ5 which nominally is a better buy but rejected it as too SUV-like in its driving characteristics. I tested a Mercedes GLC AMG43 and found it much too truck-like, and especially so the one I drove with 21” wheels. The Macan S, however met my needs perfectly. For its weight, it is exceptionally nimble with a very tight turning radius. It is bank-vault quiet at speed with none of the annoying artificial engine sound that is pumped into my wife’s Audi S4. On European-like macadam roads, it rides with barely a ripple. On broken pavement, the ride is firm but never harsh. I intentionally purchased a Macan S with 19” wheels and without air suspension. I also will heap praise on the comfort of the Macan’s seat and the quality of its Bose sound system, the quality something of a surprise given the fact that the system has only 10 speakers. Fit and finish are impeccable. The car’s only real negatives, however, is the back seat’s tight legroom and price. While mine equipped with the Premium Plus package and Adaptive Cruise Control priced out at “only” $72K, it is plainly lacking in the many bells and whistles that are common in many cars costing considerably less.

2023 Base Macan vs Macan S
My wife and I went round and round for weeks about the base vs the S. I actually wanted the Cayenne but it's her primary car and said she preferred the Macan. I said, if we get the Macan it's gotta be the S. We'll I lost out on that decision too. She wanted the volcano gray base macan with the leather pkg and some nice wheels. I gotta admit the base macan is absolutely fantastic. I'm sure the S is nicer and more powerful and amazing to drive but we are 100% thrilled with the 4 cylinder. It's all the comfort and speed we need. It's my wife's car and she loves it. I try and drive it every chance I get. It's a pleasure to drive and you will be happy with either car.

Excellent vehicle but not perfect
I bought my 2022 Macan S after a 6 month wait after ordering. I paid MSRP for $92K and change before tax. I have never owned a car that received so many compliments. Of course being a Porsche will get you that but my main compliment is for its Miami Blue color with 21” Spyder wheels. Performance wise my Macan leaves no wants. That engine mated with the PDK transmission and the suspension with PASM makes it more of a sports car than a compact SUV. The Sport Chrono package in Sport Plus turns it into a beast. A GTS spec’d out the same as my S would have only cost me $6K more (with a couple of free options) but it would have only given me .3 sec faster to 60 mph and I was told would have had a rougher ride. Just for the GTS badge in the back. The S is the sweet spot in this model line. My negatives are few. The standard speedometer and tach dials (dark gray) have a small hood over them that casts a shadow making the dials darker to read than they should be. At night with them lit it’s no problem but in daytime it lacks in my opinion. I wish I had paid for lighter colored dials. Sometimes with the key fob in my pocket the engine will not start and a warning display sign states that the car is not reading the fob. When I move the fob around inside my pants pocket the car will eventually start. Sometimes I have to move the fob 2-3 times. The 360 degree camera is a very nice feature but the back up camera view is not a direct view and a little curvy. I don’t like that. It takes some getting used to. If you pay extra for the Porsche crest on the headrests (like I did) they don’t show very well on dark upholstery. The (haptic) buttons I really dislike like everyone else does. You have to take your eyes off of the road to activate them. I wish they would have left the real buttons from the 2021 and before models.

Macan T
Thanks to Edmunds, I was able to get the car at a fair price. Given that the dealers are marking up every car on their lot, Edmunds tools helped us get the Macan T instead of the base. Macan T is just an awesome upgrade compared to the base and not too pricey as S or GTS. It feels like a perfect match between price and performance. The features on this Porsche is what you would expect from a Porsche plus more. I am very happy with this car, before this I drove a BMW 5 series and a Z. I clearly see what I get for the extra $. If you are thinking about a macan, I would recommend it!
