Trim level differences
The 2024 Cybertruck is currently available in the primary All-Wheel Drive configuration with dual electric motors. A less expensive single-motor Rear-Wheel Drive version and the tri-motor Cyberbeast are said to be available sometime in 2025. Tesla says the All-Wheel Drive makes around 600 horsepower and can travel up to 340 miles on a full charge. The Cyberbeast is a three-motor all-wheel-drive setup rated at 845 horsepower and a range of 320 miles. An optional bed-mounted range-extender battery can boost range up to 470 miles. Note that Tesla hasn't released the Cybertruck's full list of features and options at the time of our review's publication. Consider what follows to be preliminary and subject to change. Tesla is also known to be fond of adding and adjusting features through rolling over-the-air software updates.
Which Cybertruck trim does Edmunds recommend?
If you're looking to get into a Cybertruck for the lowest price, wait until the single-motor rear-wheel-drive model arrives sometime in 2025. Until then, we'd go with the Dual Motor model. It comes with the same features, off-road capability and towing capacity as the blindingly fast Cyberbeast, but it gets better range. It's no slouch itself, capable of 60 mph in 4 seconds, and it keeps the price under six figures.
