2024 Tesla Model 3 Sedan Trims Comparison

Trim level differences

The 2024 Tesla Model 3 is an all-electric sedan that's available in four versions: base (also called Rear-Wheel Drive), Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive, Long Range All-Wheel Drive and Performance. Keep reading for a rundown of the key features you get on the Model 3.

Base Model 3
Comes standard with:

  • Rear-wheel drive
  • Tesla-estimated 0-60 mph acceleration of 5.8 seconds
  • Estimated 272 miles of range
  • 170-kW max charging rate
  • 18-inch wheels
  • Ambient cabin lighting
  • Synthetic leather upholstery
  • Panoramic glass roof
  • Keyless entry and start
  • Power-adjustable front seats
  • Heated front and rear seats
  • Ventilated front seats
  • Heated steering wheel

Tech features for the base Model 3 include:

  • Wireless charging for two smartphones
  • Two rear USB ports
  • 15.4-inch touchscreen with navigation
  • 8-inch touchscreen for rear passengers
  • Nine-speaker sound system
  • Wi-Fi hotspot
  • Integrated audio, video streaming and gaming services (requires subscription)
  • Tesla's Autopilot, a suite of advanced driver aids that include:
    • Adaptive cruise control (maintains a driver-set distance between the Model 3 and the car in front)
    • Forward collision warning with automatic braking (warns you of an impending collision and applies the brakes in certain scenarios)
    • Lane keeping system (makes minor steering corrections to help keep the vehicle centered in its lane)

Note that Tesla discontinued the base Model 3 late in the 2024 model year.

Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive
Adds to the base model with:

  • Estimated 363 miles of range
  • Tesla-estimated 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds
  • Max charging rate increased to 250 kW
  • 17-speaker premium sound system

Long Range All-Wheel Drive
Adds a front motor that gives the 3 all-wheel drive plus:

  • Estimated 341 miles of range
  • Tesla-estimated 0-60 mph in 4.2 seconds

Performance
Loses a bit of overall range when compared with the Long Range model on which it's based but gains performance with:

  • Estimated 303 miles of range
  • Tesla-estimated 0-60 mph in 2.9 seconds
  • Adaptive sport-tuned suspension
  • Larger brakes
  • 20-inch forged aluminum wheels
  • Carbon-fiber spoiler
  • Sport bucket seats
  • Carbon-fiber interior trim

There are two Autopilot upgrade packages available:

  • Enhanced Autopilot
    • Integrated navigation capability while using Autopilot, such as on and off highway ramps
    • Automated parking system (steers in and out of a parking spot with little or no driver intervention)
  • Full Self-Driving Capability
    • Can potentially stop the Model 3 at stoplights and stop signs when Autopilot is engaged
    • Additional features in the future, such as automated steering, that Tesla says will be released via over-the-air updates

Note: Tesla discontinued the Enhanced Autopilot option package midway through the model year and added its features to the Full Self-Driving Capability package.

Which Model 3 trim does Edmunds recommend?

The base Model 3 is rich with standard features and is a worthy choice if you don't plan on using it for long-distance trips. However, we'd upgrade to the Long Range version. The extra range makes the Model 3 better suited for road trips, as does its higher max charging speeds. Stick with the less expensive Rear-Wheel Drive version unless you need the extra wintertime traction provided by the Long Range All-Wheel Drive.
