What stood out?

There are no special tricks needed to eke out great fuel economy; the Sportage makes the most of hybrid technology to combine strong acceleration with impressive fuel economy, while the abundance of tech contributes to the premium vibe. The Sportage Hybrid also delivers a comfortable ride and offers plenty of space for people and cargo. Added bonus: The Hybrid is actually quicker and more fun to drive than the standard Sportage. It looks absolutely killer, too.

Why is the Kia Telluride a finalist?

The Telluride is a superlative SUV; it gets just about everything right. The Telluride is super spacious, and even adults will find the third row usable. 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLS

Why is the GLS a finalist?

In terms of luxury SUVs, it's hard to beat the Mercedes-Benz GLS. It's like riding on a cloud, thanks to its smooth dynamics, serene interior, and abundance of creature comforts and helpful driving aids. Throw a handful of powerful engines into the mix — including a 603-horsepower V8 — and the GLS really hustles. But it never loses that luxury edge. Premium SUVs don't get much better than this.
