Foreign Cars are Not Always the Best
I have had this 2005 Toyota Camry XLE V6 for two months now. I am surprised how disappointed I am with the driving experience of the Camry. I had a 1997 Buick LeSabre with a 3.8L V6 engine that got better gas mileage than this car, and it was about 500 lbs HEAVIER. This 3.0L is should get better gas mileage than it does (for me 15 city, 23 hwy). My Buick glided on the road, more bumps with the Camry. And the transmission is the worst. It hesitates going between 20 to 70 mpg. Not good for city traffic. I can hear the wind and outside noises much more than the Buick. I am trying to trade-in for an American car this time, at least for a better performing V6 engine.
Material and Mechanical Parts are so Cheap
I own 2005 Toyota Camry (this is my 2nd Camry) and the quality of this one is terrible. The fabric inside has rolled up cotton ball. The fabric of the ceiling inside the car was all falling apart. The plastic inside is all loosen up. Its value is really bad compared to my previous Camry. My sister bought a 2012 Camry and the same thing happened to her. The material is so cheap. Not to mention all the mechanical parts - they don't last like the old Camry. We decided No more Camry and had shared this problem with everyone we know.

Great car?
After 12 years the car we were told is "a great car" still runs fine, but not without more expensive repairs than an American made car. We were told upon purchase that the Toyota would hold more value when ready to trade. It is disappointing to see its value at this point is not much different than competition. The car has bee solid and usually dependable. The front seats are not designed for tall people. Leather has held up very well.

Great Car!
My 2005 Camry is like new inside very clean. It only has 107000 miles. No issues at all. The maintenance has been kept up. I bought it new and has been garage kept.

Not the best choice for everyone
Overall a solid car with a few shortcomings and no personality. Feels designed for the masses not an individual person. The front seat bottoms are too short and flat for taller people. The brakes are weak- dealer told me I'm at 50% front and back after 6 months. I never did understand the option packages in order to get disc brakes w/o a $3000+ option package. Car feels and looks big and bulky. Dealership was dirty and sales staff sleazy. I feel like a schmuck for putting up with the dealer and actually buying a car from them. We bought a Toyota because everyone said it was great. It is a good car but not for everyone.
