2025 Toyota Corolla Hatchback

The Corolla Hatchback embodies all that the Corolla sedan has stood for for generations — inexpensive, reliable transportation, but with the added utility of a hatchback body. Don't expect the Corolla Hatchback to light the world on fire. It's not that kind of car. Its two trims, single engine offering, and choice of two transmissions are exactly what we'd expect from a machine with a legacy built on getting people places reliably rather than excitably. The 2025 model year won't be much different.

Edmunds spotlight: The redesign is coming, but probably not immediately

Change is on the horizon for the Corolla lineup, but we don't expect it next year. For 2025 the Corolla and this hatchback version should remain essentially the same as they've been for five and six years, respectively. It's possible Toyota will roll out one body style first as it did in 2019 with the hatchback, following it in 2020 with the sedan. But that seems less likely this time given the probability that the new Corolla will be a comprehensively restyled version of the current car rather than a full-fledged redesign. For now, however, our crystal ball says Toyota can squeeze one more model year out of the current Corolla lineup.  

Competitors

With the proliferation of SUVs expanding even into the small-car segment fewer and fewer people pay attention to cars this size, yet plenty remain. The big players are the Hyundai Elantra, Honda Civic and Mazda 3. But only the latter two are offered in a hatchback body like the Corolla. The Honda is the newest and most expensive of the bunch, and that shows in both its quality and driving experience.

Expect the 2025 Corolla Hatchback to look and feel pretty familiar, though a redesign appears to be right around the corner.
