Overall really poor quality for a Toyota

Really really poor quality for a Toyota product as I have owned or driven them for large parts of my life. So lets start with the exterior. Very crappy paint, as it is very easy to scratch, have a new scratch just from my summer coat sleeve, and one from just leaning my fishing pole against the side for a second to close the tailgate, in some ways its almost like it didn't get a clear coat. The metal exterior shell is flimsy and the doors sound hallow when you close them, and just seem extremely cheap construction. So on to the interior: From the start the heating/AC system made a really high pitched almost squealing sound for the first 5-7 minutes each time you start using it then would go away. During the first heavy rain the Truck started leaking water into the passenger side thru the passenger handle which has an airbag in it, after inspection at least 1 seem on that side of the vehicle was not welded at the factory. Which the dealer said will take a bit of time to fix and would need to keep the truck. Which want to then charge me for the rental for a MFG defect. This is all in the first just over 3 months of owning the new Tacoma. I would not recommend it to anyone until they 1 upgrade the crappy materials and construction to include a better quality control system at factory. Though I do like the new overall look and additions both inside and out of the 2016 Tacoma, the quality is completely void in this years model. Now just over 2.5 years into owning the truck and having purchased the extended care plans, were basically told by Toyota they can't do anything to get my truck fixed because the local dealer is basically running a scam. With just about 17500 miles I went in for my 20k service and was told they did it at 13k and would just do the 25k service which is a tire rotation and they couldn't do the other warranty maintenance on the car because they didn't have people that could do it even though it was a scheduled appointment. Called Toyota HQ and was basically told oh well nothing they can do about it. Long story short DO NOT by a Toyota.

I have a 1998 4cyc rev cab with 33x12.5 tires and 6 inch lift and a new 2016 Tacoma off-road 4x4 long bed factory and each require the same RPM's to maintain speeed over the passes in Utah. I like the truck a lot but dang... Couldn't you of given it 300hp and 300 torque?! My fathers 2011 Camry has the same hp and torque numbers almost and it doesn't vibrate while idling and is super smooth. (The 2016 3.5 Tacoma motor while smooth is a bit rough at idle and is loud while driving) I like the truck okay but it's probably on its way out in the next two years if it doesn't shock me with its towing ability. The cruise control seems to jack up the RPM's anytime is thinks a hill might be close. Without the cruise I can average 21 mpg continually with 50/50 driving city and freeway. With cruise it averages around 18-19 on freeway and actually better on surface streets. Which is pathetic. Come on toyota... People drive 70 on the freeway and cross country is 80ish.... Help us out please. I'm not doing 60 on the freeway. It's pretty quiet inside and the technology is nice. I may keep it but once again I'm not trying to get 15mpg while towing 3500lbs cross country.. A tundra can do that for the same price with little to no effort.

Tipical toyota, firm ride & steering, simple controls, solid feel, good storage . Navigation screen hard to see in bright light, transmission shifts out of lower gear to quickley. Gas milage for a truck is good. Size of veh. is perfect, not to big or small.

I was a little hesitant when buying my tacoma. I got a TRD offroad 4x4 black. I originally wanted it in their dark gray option because the black color does trap in heat, but it's a small issue. The price was another thing that put me off a little saying that it was a little over 44,000, but now that I have it, I have fallen in love with it. I have heard others complain about the head room and seat adjustment, but it is not that big of an issue for me saying that I am 5 foot 7. Although I do have to agree that it is a bit tricky to find that perfect seating position. I originally had a 2006 explorer (another great vehicle), and you could adjust the seating position in just about any way you desired. The gas mileage is not a serious issue in my case. The tacoma advertises around 22 mpg for the base sr 2x4 model, but if I drive carefully, I can average up to 24 mpg in the trd offroad 4x4, which is said to get the worst gas mileage out of all the tacoma models. I would have enjoyed an extended gas tank option because I seem to be at the gas station quite often. The only real complaint I have is the acceleration. I didn't expect it to compete with sport cars or anything, but compared to other pick ups, it is quite sluggish. But, I guess if one really wanted to solve that problem, they could add something after market to give it a little more get up and go.

I have a 2016 TRD 4x4 off road, bought it with (7) miles on it about 2k it started shaking when driving on the highway I thought it was a balance issue, nope, it's been 10k miles, replaced tires, replaced wheels, balance done 8 times.....the steering wheel shakes the whole truck shakes, everything in the truck shakes it's comical, "not when it's yours" anybody who goes for a ride mentions it, it feels like a salvage truck, the dealership tells me "oh it's a truck" BS My last truck was a 2013 Tacoma it was totaled hit a center divide, the frame shifted, I fixed it that truck felt better then this "clean title" 25k update Transmission feels like it has sticky gears, down shifts are very hash, dealer did a ecu reset, which went back to same feeling in couple days Engine to me feels like it lost power, feels very sluggish Oil changes never gets above 5.5k Engine feels very outdated, my wife drives and tells me "this truck is hella slow, everybody passes me up" 36k miles now transmission feels to be getting worse, dealership is terrible does not acknowledge it, when I bring it in it's like I did something wrong and get nasty attitudes from the service advisors. Brakes The rotors get warped way to fast, I already changed the front rotors and the second set is already terribly warped the truck even when driving in the city the brakes pump very noticeably and to top it off the the 2nd to 1st down shift pushes the whole truck forward with a bang, I'm very very disappointed in this truck.
