I traded my 2017 Lexus RX350 for the 2023 hybrid Venza. While not as posh the Venza’s driving characteristics are similar to the Lexus and it has more technology and driver safety features in a slightly smaller package. Best of all my current overall efficiency since buying the Venza is 40 plus miles per gallon.

If it doesn’t have it, you don’t need it.

We traded a Lexus 350 in for Venda LTD Hybrid. The Venda came equipped with virtually every extra we could think off. I won’t go into details offered by other reviewers other than to say I agree with them. We have had Chevys, Pontiacs, Mercedes, Lexuses, VWs, and a few others, and the Venza is the best of the lot, especially when you factor in MPG, styling and cost. Its comparative rating is knocked down for a lack of space in the rear, but it is perfectly fine for a couple who do not tow. I recommend it without qualification or reservation.

We are retired and have looked for a vehicle to replace our Rogue which we liked, but wanted something that gave us better mileage as well as overall nicer more luxurious feel. What we found to meet all of those criteria we settled on a 2023 Venza, which we love. The only shortfall is lack of hauling capacity, which is not as important to us as it used to be. The seats are very comfortable and love the ability to just say, "Hey Toyota take us to where we want to go". Our son who drives a Lexus RX tried to convince us to get one, but could not see the $12,000 difference in price and after seeing and drive our new car he was convinced as well. We cannot figure out why this model is not selling compared to the Rav4, which is not nearly as nice. You can't go wrong with a Venza!

Let's Put Things In Perspective

2023 Toyota Venza XLE 4dr SUV AWD (2.5L 4cyl gas/electric hybrid CVT)

I think the look and design of the Venza is really more about elegance and fashion statement than sport utility. You won't find plastic claddings on the Venza as you would on typical SUVs. Reviewers like to compare the Venza to more true SUVs like the RAV4 and CRV, so obviously the Venza comes up short on many SUV categories. Hopefully, this review can put things in proper perspective and perhaps explain some of the inconsistencies among the various reviews. If you want a SUV with exceptional gas mileage that also looks elegant and fashionable (subjectively speaking), then do consider the Venza. The Venza is mostly quiet but it could also be a bit noisy. It is pretty quiet if you drive it like a hybrid and not a sport car, since you need to give the hybrid battery a chance to complement the gas engine in moving the car. If you accelerate somewhat hard, you force the gas engine to do most of the work, and the Toyota 2.5L engine can be a bit loud when rev up too quickly. Toyota aims for gas mileage and reliability with their engine design but the penalty is a somewhat louder engine. So if you do lots of brisk accelarations, the hybrid battery will not have chance to charge up, forcing the gas engine to have to rev and make more noise than it needs to. The ride/suspension is very nice for a compact SUV but it's not exactly comparable to that of mid to full size luxury SUVs. Most Venza's come with 19 inch wheels and low profile tires so you can expect a slightly bumpy ride when compared to SUVs with 17 inch wheels and more tire rubber. The 12 inch infotainment system can be a bit annoying to use at first due to the flush surface design but it's really not bad. Music and radio can easily be managed via the controls on the steering wheel. The air con basically operates itself if you put it in Auto mode. You still need to press Recirculate as needed. The flush design looks so elegant that after a few months with the Venza, most other vehicles dashboards started to look outdated. The base 6 speakers audio is surprising good. Toyota tuned it such that the highs, mids, bass, balance and fader are just perfect, if you leave them at their default levels. Instruments and voices are presented with accurate timbre and impressive details, with minimal sibilance or sloppy bass. I think the XLE is the best trim for looks and features versus price.

This is such a GREAT looking vehicle. The seats are super comfortable. I've only had for a little while, but getting 40 mpg. I got the limited model and it came with every option. The sound system is awesome. My only issue is the big display doesn't show more than 1 app at a time. But it is a great vehicle!!
