Forgo the fancy suspension options

2021 Chevrolet Tahoe
Recently purchased Tahoe Z71 trim. I have read many reviews from multiple trusted auto journalists and many of them mention their test vehicle was equipped with the optional magnetic ride and air suspension options. My Tahoe Z71 is not equipped with either option (hence my ability to purchase one..$$) but instead the basic suspension - Chevrolet simply refers to it as "Premium Smooth … Ride Suspension" on the build sheet. My first jaunt in the vehicle was 100 miles up old Route 66 near my home. The road is far from perfect, and I did not experience any of the ill mannered ride qualities that many auto journalists have noted during their test drives of the Tahoe with the added premium suspension options. In fact it felt very still and quiet the entire trip down and up old Route 66. It should be noted that I traded a 2018 Grand Cherokee Summit that was equipped with air ride suspension similar to what the Tahoe can be equipped with. I recommend if you are interested in a Tahoe, to drive one without the fancy suspension package options. You can save some serious money by forgoing that option and frankly, from my experience, I think the better riding suspension is actually the basic package! It is unfortunate that Chevrolet gave every single auto journalist the Magnetic & Air Ride equipped Tahoe's for test drives, as nearly all of them have noted it just didn't feel right. I have yet to run across any auto reviews of the base Tahoe without those options. However, I believe the best factor for ride quality is to select a 20" wheel option instead of the 22".
My biggest gripes with the 2021 Tahoe is two things. For a $65k vehicle, it should be equipped with Adaptive Cruise Control, and built in navigation. My Tahoe has neither! Adaptive Cruise Control can only be had by upgrading to the High Country model, and then adding that as an option!! Ridiculous!! My Tahoe also does not have built in navigation. You either have to connect your phone via apple carplay or andriod auto and use your phone's, or you have to subscribe to the OnStar turn by turn navigation - also ridiculous!
Some perks that are very nice about the vehicle is the WIRELESS Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. No more connecting your phone via the aux cord to connect the Apple CarPlay! CarPlay connects automatically-wirelessly! Genius! This makes not having built-in navigation almost forgivable. The brakes are excellent - they have a strong initial bite which I like in brakes.
The Goodyear Wrangler TrailRunner A/T tires are super quiet and frankly I was surprised that at least inside the vehicle was actually quieter than my Grand Cherokee Summit with Pirelli AllSeason's.
Another thing to consider if you are considering a Z71 trim... do some research on the LSD (Limited Slip Differential). The Chevrolet comes with a "mechanical LSD". I have learned that the main difference between the Z71 and the AT4 (Yukon), is in the LSD. Chevrolet utilizes an older style mechanical LSD, where the AT4 utilizes an electronic LSD. There are a couple videos online that explain the difference - refer to TFLoffroad & Truck King on YouTube. It seems that the electronic LSD is a much better system than the older style mechanical LSD. On TFLOffRoad, they tested the Z71's LSD up a mountain in Colorado, and the LSD never seemed to kick in for them during their test. TFLOffroad later tested the AT4 with the electronic LSD and it seemed to work like a charm during that test. Nothing that bothers me too much to sway me from the Z71, but something that is not advertised to the public when trying to differentiate between the Z71 and AT4. This may be important for those who are serious about off roading and are considering the Z71 or AT4.
The vehicle is still new to me and I might update this review later down the road if anything comes to mind to be added.
