Stylish, Efficient, but Could Use a Few Tweaks

2024 Honda HR-V
I've owned my 2024 Honda HR-V Sport AWD for around 4 months now. I have to say that it is one of the best Honda's I've ever owned, and also easily one of the best SUVs period. I've owned nearly every Civic since the 90s, an S2000, and most recently an Si. This is my FIRST EVER SUV! I've always loved the styling of the smaller Honda SUVs, beginning with the Honda Element, remember that … one?
The first generation HR-V always struck me as a very stylish, but when I test drove one around 2017, I thought it felt extremely underpowered and overpriced for something that felt like a Honda Fit. Fast forward a few years and I see THIS car out and about. "Is that a Porsche?", I asked. The styling of the new HR-V is incredible! It's sporty, sophisticated, not overly styled, and is just pleasant to look at both inside and out. It kind of looks like a Porsche at first glance, but then you see some Acura SUV influences, and then of course the new Civic up front (which is understandable, since that's what it's based on).
What about power? Remember how I said my last car was an Si? Well, it was a bit of a transition coming to the HR-V after owning the Si, which is significantly quicker. It felt EXTREMELY sluggish at first, but honestly, it's not that bad once you get used to it. I am certain that the sluggish acceleration in 0-60 testing is because of the CVT. If it was matted to a different transmission, it would accel, pun intended.
To be honest, the CVT is actually preferred for ordinary driving. It puts the engine in the ideal "gear" without having to wait for it downshift or hunt for the right gear (one of my biggest pet peeves with an automatic transmission). Oddly enough, I've noticed that it seems to accelerate quicker if you don't push the pedal all the way to the floor the entire time, if you sort of lift up on the petal a bit. It's hard to explain, but you kind of get used to it the more you drive it. I think it feels appropriately powered for what it is, and what it's used for, and it feels better than the last generation HR-V.
Fuel economy for a non-hybrid SUV is better than expected, literally. I am averaging 35 MPG and I've seen it higher. I've also seen it as low as 27 MPG and as high as 38 MPG. On average I get somewhere around 32 MPG, which I'm pleased with, since it's higher than the EPA estimates. This is a pleasant surprise, since it seems to be a common complaint with the HR-V. I would like to see a hybrid version of the HR-V, especially after the debut of the new Civic hybrid. More power and fuel economy would make this car almost perfect!
On that note, I do have some gripes. I really wish it came with blacked out emblems. The sport emblem is black, but the others are chrome, which just looks odd to me. The seats aren't particularly comfortable and have taken a lot of getting used to. It took me ages to find the optimum seating position. I'm 6'2" and it I feel like the seat should be a little bit longer and should have more adjustments. I also feel like it should have wireless carplay standard, even on the lower trim level, as plugging in your phone seems very archaic at this point.
Overall, I love my HR-V. It handles like a car and gets decent fuel mileage for an SUV. It could use a little more power, but only if it doesn't harm fuel economy, so a hybrid would be ideal.
