2022 Jeep Wagoneer
The Wagoneer should have been the best middle ground with its larger space than the Grand Cherokee, Jeep 4WD system and some luxury features. I purchased the Series 3 with customer preference package. Not a Grand Wagoneer price but pretty close at $88k. I was willing to forego the wood interior, computer screen dashboard and larger engine to save myself $15-25k. My issues are with the … technology. The auto-lane management system hasn’t worked in the 6 months that I’ve owned it. Other features like easy-exit, drivers seat memory function and system lay out work sporadically. The rear lift gate doesn’t work when you swing your foot under the bumper. The pedestrian auto-brake doesn’t work. Again, it’s the technology that doesn’t work properly. The size is perfect for me and my K9’s. I should’ve gone with the GLS from Mercedes. The GLS doesn’t have as much room, but at least the quality is there for $85k plus.
UPDATE: I purchased a ‘22 Wagoneer Series 3 w/preferred package. The vehicle rides well on the road both cruising and around town. The dash unit is very glitchy. For example; the navigation system reboot spontaneously, the easy entry/exit feature works occasionally. The ACC system is very touchy. For example; with 2 spaces selected between my vehicle and the one in front of me, the system aggressively taps the brakes—even the passengers think I’ve slammed on the brakes. As for the interior; the upholstery on the 3rd row right side came loose…apparently it’s glued on. Yes, I wrote glue in a $90k suv. I was a bit taken back by the amount of plastic in this top of the line Wagoneer that allegedly competes with Mercedes GLS and Cadillac Escalade. In fairness, I didn’t want to spring for Grand Wagoneer at $110k just for the wood dash, doors and center console…my bad. I’m impressed by the cargo room and visibility. The vehicle doesn’t let you forget it’s a heavy beast, though navigating in downtown streets isn’t that bad—unless you’ve been driving a Corolla. In my opinion, the Wagoneer isn’t a good contrast to the GLS or Escalade…perhaps a Suburban. Even GM has tech issues but I don’t imagine this bad. A decent GLS will cost around the same, not have as much room but at least you’ll get the quality of Mercedes Benz—yeah I’m a former owner of S class and GL. Wagoneer Connect is a complete joke. Every time my Wagoneer has been in for service repair, nine and counting, it’s because I made the appointment. I had to pay for a loaner and not once has the dealer been able to pick up my vehicle for service. Bottom line, I’m not impressed with the luxury version of Jeep…buyer beware!
