2016 Land Rover Discovery Sport
We've owned our Disco Sport for two years. We love all the cool features, especially the 360-degree cameras--really helps when navigating into tight parking spots. We also are big fans of its capability on ice and snow. We have driven it through two blinding blizzards where all the other vehicles abandoned the road, but we kept right on with no issues. Not only is the traction-control … superb, but it has amazingly wide fog lights that allow you to see the edge of the road so you don't drive into the ditch.
We have only had two complaints: the suspension does not give you a feeling of being connected to the road, so you get a little bit of "loosey-goosey" feel if it's a bumpy road, and the drive train can be a bit unpredictable. I was reading another review here a week ago, where the author had experienced the same problems, but discovered the solution: always drive in "Sport" mode ("S" on the shifter). Hallelujah! We have been driving in Sport Mode ever since, and as the other reviewer noted, it's a whole different vehicle! Not only is there no turbo lag, but it is now a beast! It out accelerates by Jaguar XF supercharged V6, and does it smoothly and effortlessly. I only wish someone had told me this two years ago!
Also had another revelation last fall. We took the Discovery Sport up California's central coast through the Pacific Coast Highway's winding, hair-pin turns. Although it's not my Jag, I gained a renewed respect for the Disco Sports, precise and tight steering. I can't think of another SUV I'd rather take that road in.
