2007 Lincoln Town Car
Driven the gorgeous, All American “land yachts” my entire life...and have been a Town Car loyalist for years. Plush, comfortable, and church quiet even at high speeds.
The styling of the last generation of Town Cars may not have been quite the equivalent of the Continentals of yore...but you will still feel the grandeur of what a classic luxury sedan is all about as you are cosseted in … comfort by leather sofas...a roomy interior...and a great ride whether you are driver or passenger.
And the reliability? As a NY limo driver friend of mine once said: “They are hard wearing, easy to fix, and with proper care and basic maintenance, these Panthers will almost literally eat nails...then come back for more!
I don’t care much for the rather dour reviews many places like Edmunds. They sell this car short, which for its class and durability...is far less than it deserves!
Sure, when The Town Car is up against a modern “luxury car”, she looks dated to
“modern eyes”. She’s basic, huge, and “out of place” in the current market.
But what those of this persuasion don’t understand is...that’s why many of us LOVE
HER!
The term “luxury car” has sadly evolved and now defines a “fast, futuristic, performance machine with the latest of gizmos and computerised gadgets”.
The venerable Lincoln, on the other hand, is a glorious throwback, in handling and styling, to what an American “luxo barge” used to be all about.
In performance, she is graceful and steady...and in comfort and style, she hearkens back to that sense of elegant gentility that the world has since lost appreciation for.
Worst decision Ford Lincoln ever made was to scrap this car. We literally turned our back on something that was not only beautiful, but something that works very well, and served us reliably for decades.
If you are like me, and you share appreciation for a real, roomy, stately car that will literally go for hundreds of thousands of miles...please find yourself one of these and take care of it well.
We have literally gotten to the point where, for those of us who refuse to budge on real quality...there is nothing else on the market.
Nothing replaces these cars...except for finding another one.
