Awesome Value if You Can Look Past all That Chrome

2024 Nissan Armada
After my 2013 GMC Yukon hit 200K miles, we were in the market for what will be our last big family hauler. On my "must have" list was - 4WD, leather, a V8 engine (without AFM), 2nd row captains chairs, reliability and wireless CarPlay. This list with the exception of the CarPlay and V8 is basically table stakes for the segment. I looked at the latest GMCs and Chevys and could not stomach … the pricing even for used. Similarly lightly used V8 Sequoias can no longer be found for a reasonable price.
The Armada wasn't initially on my radar. 2 styling elements had turned me off:
1.The copious amounts of chrome
2. the badonkadonk-like rear bumper that juts out from the silhouette.
When two different people offered up praise for their Armadas (minus the low MPGs) I figured it couldn't hurt to look. It checked all my boxes. Built in Japan. Reliable V8 Endurance Engines that have been in production for over a decade. A plush cabin that for the platinum trim is really just a down badged QX80. And the kicker... with the completely redesigned Armada on the way for the 2025 model year... there were deals to be had on the 2024!
After having the car for 6 months, I can honestly say I look forward to having this beast for 200K miles. To drive this car is to love it. It feels like a plushly appointed tank. The engine sounds great and after finding out all of it's other awesome attributes, the quirky looks have grown on me. I would buy exactly the same vehicle if I had the chance to do it all again. Oh and bonus points because it doesn't have that annoying "feature" where it stops and starts the ignition at every red light like most new cars these days.
