1995 Nissan Truck
Outstanding reliability; only 2 repairs in 20 years: starter at about 12 years and alternator at about 15 years. Otherwise, only routine maintenance. Tows and hauls way more than you would have thought for a 4 cylinder engine. Still runs like a top at 163,000 and 20 yrs.
Minor issue with blower fan at 170,000; seems to run better with mid grade gas. Otherwise, still used almost daily … around farm; but wouldn’t be afraid to set out across the country in it.
Just invested about $700 in new tires and a few minor repairs, so I expect to use it for several more years. My daily driver now is a new Frontier.
At 175,000+ miles, had to change drive belts recently; then had to replace radiator because repair shop broke neck of radiator where upper hose attached and it was not repairable; so did complete system flush with new water pump, etc.
Also, now have to use no ethanol gas and Sea Foam to keep running smoothly. Engine has lost a lot of power and needs to be “decarboned.” It probably needs a new catalytic converter. I’m okay with that at 177,000+ miles. I mostly use it around the farm and for short trips to nearby towns, so it really doesn’t get used enough to keep it maintained.
I finally sold the tough little truck because it sat unused most of the time, and it needs to be driven more often. I recently ran into the current owners and they are very happy to have it to use around their rural property.
