Best vehicle I had in 10 years!

1994 Plymouth Grand Voyager
It was bought brand new by my grand parents in 1994 and I was in 9th grade and was with them when they decided to buy the vehicle. My granny passed away in 2003 and in her will it was said to be mine once she passed away. My papa decided to keep it a few more years for my disabled aunt until he could get him a new truck and I got the office job and I got the office job in 2008 and he … then gave it to me cause he bought his new truck and didnt need the van anymore. So I can say that since 2008 I have had many good years out of it camping, and just got me to places I needed to get too. It was apart of our family for 25 years and I had it only 10 out of the 25 years. Well last year I needed some major work done to it on the engine and I knew it would not be longer I would have to junk him but I got the parts needed (cylinder heads and gaskets, oil filer and oil. Found a mechanic and he did the repairs it ran for maybe 3 months and then it started making a loud tapping and knocking noice after I got gas in it. Now on the way to get gas it was fine it was on the way back home it started making the loud noices I was like this aint good and I knew this was it my van named Charlie (my granny named all her cars btw) and I kept it named was going to be parting ways from me. I had my brother in law who works on cars say it might be a rod I blew or something in the engine he was not sure. So I called my friends mechanic who works for the Dodge dealership and he came by and started the van and heard the noice and said yep it was a rod either lose or bent so I started crying cause I liked the van it was apart of my life and family and I vae tried so hard to keep it running but could not keep up with those kind of repairs so he told me I hate to tell you this but it is time to junk the van it will cost more than it is worth now which was not but 1000.00 or under. So I called last Friday and trying not to cry on the phone I contacted a junk yard who got me a free tow for my van and sold it to them for 120.00 the tow man came and put it on the dolley tow and that is when I cried more as it pulled away. I got to start Charlie one last time and while cleaning him out (my belongings) I was crying and I hugged the steering wheel and said goodbye to my friend and buddy Charlie and said this is it Charlie we wont see each other anymore and I hate to do this but I cant afford your repairs anymore and kissed my hand and put it on the windshield and said goodbye again rolled up all the windows and locked him up. The tow guy said get back in your van and start him up and drive it around the parking lt one more last time and so I did and drove slow around the parking lot and got the wheels lined up to the dolley tow and turned him off and said goodbye again got out and signed the papers and gave the tow guy the title and keys that was another hard part. He got the van on the doley tow and tightened the front wheels and got in his truck and drove off. All I could hear in my head was "Charlie" saying Steven dont do this to me. You need me and I need you." I know I sound weird but when something as good as this mini-van was and a huge part of the family for 25 years yea it grows on you like a animal that you have to put down and don't want too. I have since gotten a new car a 2002 Honda Accord and it is a new chapter in my life and it was my sister and husbands car and I gave them the money from the sell of "Charlie" and they gave me their car the Honda Accord as a Christmas and Birthday gift. I will not name this car Charlie cause no other car can replace Charlie. So if you are looking for a good family mini-van I really recommend buying the Plymouth Grand Voyager SE. Charlie passed away just before Christmas last year at 157K miles on him. Thanks for the wonderful memories Charlie you were a great van. You got me places and you will be very much missed. I still miss you from time to time when I see another mini van like you I just cry and think of all the great times we had. Now you get to help somebody else that needs the good parts for their mini van. Time to pass it forward Charlie. RIP buddy. Your former owner; Steven G. Reynolds
