2022 Volkswagen Taos
The FWD Taos S is a sporty, fun drive. It looks sharp on the outside and has an excellent, roomy interior for a compact SUV. Visibility is much better than similar vehicles that size, like the Honda HRV, which I was almost considering instead. If you also opt for the S, definitely look for one with IQ Drive. My main complaint about the Taos S is lack of rear AC and lack of power lift … gate. But those things aren't deal breakers. I much preferred the interior of the S to the SE.
I did test drive several AWD Taos SE models. And at this point would not safely recommend them. Handling varied on each vehicle. One AWD model had the engine cut out unexpectedly. And the other AWD model handled beautifully. I've now driven my new FWD Taos over 1200 miles and have experienced no issues.
All in all, the FWD Taos S with IQ Drive is probably the best value for your money and it's a blast to drive.
