2024 Volvo C40 Recharge Consumer Reviews

Awesome SUV - Average Battery
I love this SUV, but the range is not the best. Volvo claims 240 miles but you are not supposed to charge 100% which brings that down. When it is around freezing the battery drains quickly. How can Tesla and other car companies get over 300 miles? It is great if you are driving short distance. When you drive on the open road longer distances the charge goes away quicker than in stop and go traffic. The C40 is FAST and has no trouble getting on tight entrance/exit ramps or passing cars on expressways. Navigation is a breeze with voice control and the option to put the map on the front display. The seats are comfortable and the SUV looks great. I just wish it would get more miles on a charge or Volvo would develop an update to increase range. If you plan on driving short distances and charging the C40 at home, you will like this SUV. If you need it for trips 50 miles or more, I would recommend going with a car company that knows how to make more efficient batteries or until there are more charging stations. If you do not need a lot of range than this is a fantastic and fun SUV.

Solid 4 Star Car
Really like the C40 Recharge a lot. But for its premium price there are a few not so premium things to call out. The Ride; very firm and choppy. Of course the obsession with larger and larger wheels doesn't help here. Glass roof doesn't open and lack of a shade. No Headsup display No Ventilated seats Seats aren't up to Volvo Standards Some cheap plastic The GOOD! This car MOVES and handles quite well for what it is Fit and Finish are excellent Sufficient range for MY use. Yes many will say I need XXX before I'll even consider an electric car when in fact they only drive 20-50 miles a day. But what about if I want to drive across country....when is the last time most have done this? Quickish charging speed Love the styling. For the MSRP Volvo needs to up the game. I got the Federal Tax Credit, a $5000 State REBATE, $2500 Costco Rebate, $1000 Volvo Loyalty, and a $500 A-Plan rebate. So for $15+k off the MSRP it was reasonably priced.

First fully electric EV, I'm blown away
I have had my C40 recharge Ultimate for a month now and I'm blown away. I have had plug in hybrids before, a Chevy Volt and a Ford Fusion, the first was good the other meh. This is a different car altogether. I knew I wanted a fully electric EV this time and also knew I wanted a SUV or crossover with four wheel drive so I test drove the Tesla Y, the Huyndai Ioniq 5, the Kia EV6 and finally the Volvo. While I liked the driving experience in the Tesla, the interior just felt cheap and I couldn't get used to having to look to my left to see speed etc. The Huyndai and Kia were nice and I thought I would go that way until I tried the Volvo. Loved the look of the C40 Recharge from the get go and once I drove it I was sold. This is a fast car. When I looked at video reviews, I was struck by the way the seasoned reviewers started grinning when they accelerated, clearly didn't expect that kind of pickup from a Volvo, it's awesome. Also really liked the build quality, much better than Tesla, Kia and Hyundai, this feels like a luxury car to me. The google voice control works really well and the sound system is great. After a month, I am totally loving this car. My only slight negative is the lower range than Tesla, Kia or Hyundai. I would have liked a little better range but it is plenty for my daily commute of 40 miles and a lot more. Have not tried high speed charging yet but I have (free) charging at my work and that works very well. Oh, and I got a very nice deal on the car, that also helped.

A truly innovative EV!
After going back to Volvo with a 10-year hiatus, it is a pleasure to come back to the company after being with Mercedes EVS. Volvo truly knew what they were doing, had a better price, and many more options. It is far Superior to the Mercedes eqs 450 considerably more expensive. If you are interested in an EV , the c40 recharge or the xc40 recharge are excellent choices. I am glad I bailed on the Mercedes and I'm back with Volvo. Drive safely!

Perfect Car for an Android user
Yes, it has Apple Car Play too, but with the console based on "Android Automotive" there is no need to use your android phone's data. The "4 bar" simplicity and navigation of the entertainment screen means no distractions while driving. This and the vehicle's styling makes up for the disturbingly bad visibility out the back window. (I knew about that going in. If that is a problem, then pick the nearly same XC40). The size and driving dynamics are the best! It is a tall car so easy to get into, but relatively short. Still, plenty of room in the back (5 feet) for snowboards or dogs. The range is moderate but plenty for a three hour drive. The efficiency is also moderate (about 35kW/100mi). I've had this (2022 model) for 2 years and still would lean towards the same car when my 4 year warranty expires. There have been no issues and no maintenance visits other than adding a smidge of coolant after a dashboard warning. It's a very high quality EV.
