What is the S60?
Volvo's S60 is a premium compact sedan with a focus on style and comfort. Boasting a handsome and well-crafted interior, the S60 boasts some of the most comfortable and supportive seats in the class as well as some of the best executed advanced driver aids on the market. Power comes from either a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with mild hybrid assist known as the B5 or a plug-in hybrid, known as the T8, with both turbo- and supercharging on a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine.
For 2023, Volvo has given the S60 a very subtle exterior styling refresh. The front and rear bumpers reflect the majority of the changes, but there are new wheel designs on offer as well. Inside, the S60 gets Volvo's newest infotainment system. Compact in size and engineered by Google, this system is unique in the industry (it is also shared by Polestar, a subsidiary of Volvo) and features excellent voice recognition as well as an easy-to-use menu structure.
As much as we like the S60, it remains an off-the-beaten-path choice for most buyers who generally stick to the big three in the midsize luxury sedan segment: the BMW 3 Series, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class and the Audi A4. Other choices in this segment are the Lexus IS 350, Acura TLX and the also out-of-the-ordinary Alfa Romeo Giulia.
