What is the M8?
The M8 serves two roles in the BMW lineup. It is both the automaker's most powerful coupe on sale and one of its flagship models. Because it's based on the 8 Series, the M8 has a dual purpose: It's supposed to be luxurious and deliver exceptional performance. Swaths of leather and Alcantara faux suede dot the interior, which is bathed in soft ambient lighting at night. But when you're not looking to just cruise, the adaptive suspension, more than 600 horsepower from a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8, big brakes, sticky tires, and a load of other M-division specific changes make the M8 one heck of a performance machine.
After a very light face-lift for 2023, the M8 will likely carry over untouched for the 2024 model year. The world is not long for cruisers like these, though, so it's best to simply enjoy them for their blend of ferocious power and opulence while we still can.
