Edmunds.com's Headquarters Wins BusinessWeek/Architectural Record Award
SANTA MONICA, Calif. — October 8, 2008 — Edmunds.com, the premier resource for automotive information, today announces that its Santa Monica, Calif. headquarters has earned the BusinessWeek/Architectural Record award, an international prize that honors the architects and clients who best utilize design to achieve strategic objectives.
Edmunds.com contracted Studios Architecture for the design of an employee-friendly and productivity-enhancing work space for its 400 employees. Both a photo gallery and a video tour of the office space are available on Edmunds.com's Web site.
"We wanted to create a workspace that fosters openness and transparency consistent with our brand image, and a great work environment full of formal and informal meeting spaces," said Avi Steinlauf, President and Chief Operating Officer of Edmunds.com. "Two years after completion and move-in, we continue to get great feedback from employees, associates, partners, clients and vendors about what a great work environment it is."
The goal motivating the design and architecture of the Edmunds.com headquarters was to provide an office setting that encourages collaboration and innovation -- values that the company has applied to the online automotive space for years," noted Chris Mitchell, Managing Principal of STUDIOS Architecture Los Angeles office. "Equally important to Edmunds are simplicity, clarity and ease of use, and our design reflects that as well."
The BusinessWeek/ Architectural Record Awards winners were announced on October 7, 2008 at a ceremony in New York. The original press release announcing the winners can be found at: http://www.prnewswire.com/cgi-bin/stories.pl?ACCT=109&STORY=/www/story/10-13-2008/0004903065&EDATE=
