2025 Ford SUVs: What's New With the Bronco, Expedition, Explorer and More

Three of Ford's SUVs get a refresh for 2025

  • Ford's Explorer, Expedition and Mustang Mach-E are refreshed.
  • The Mustang Mach-E EV sees a price reduction.
  • The midsize Edge SUV is discontinued for 2025.

Most of Ford's SUVs are seeing some kind of meaningful change for 2025. New trim levels are offered in the Bronco Sport and Expedition lineups, while the Explorer is updated with a refreshed interior, new tech and the addition of an automatic lane-change feature to BlueCruise, Ford's hands-free highway driving assistant. Here's everything you need to know about Ford's 2025 SUV lineup.

2025 Ford Escape driving

2025 Ford Escape

No major changes befall the Escape for 2025, but if it's powertrain choices you're after, it may be the right compact SUV for you. Four powertrain options, including two gas and two hybrid variants, are available. All-wheel drive is available for every version except the plug-in hybrid. The Escape was last refreshed for 2023 with revised styling, new infotainment, and a reshuffling of trim levels.

2025 Ford Bronco Sport Sasquatch

2025 Ford Bronco Sport

A new Sasquatch package is added to the Bronco Sport lineup for 2025, improving the Escape-based compact SUV's off-road credentials. The package includes 29-inch Goodyear all-terrain tires, which help improve its breakover and departure angles as well as its ground clearance. There's a brush bar up front and two recovery points on the front and rear bumpers — genuine off-road stuff, this. Perhaps most importantly, the Sasquatch gets a locking rear differential. Otherwise, all Bronco Sports get additional safety features, a standard 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 13.2-inch touchscreen.

With the exception of a new appearance package called Free Wheeling, the off-road-ready Bronco enters the 2025 model year largely unchanged. The Free Wheeling package adds red, orange and yellow reflective graphics to the side. Standard 17-inch wheels are included in either steel or alloy depending on trim. The Bronco remains one of the most off-road-focused SUVs sold today. Its combination of ground clearance, massive tires, a short wheelbase and short overhangs is rivaled only by the Jeep Wrangler.

2025 Ford Explorer driving

2025 Ford Explorer

A modest late-cycle refresh gives the Explorer a new dash and interior materials in addition to a standard 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 13.2-inch touchscreen. Google Maps and Google Assistant are included, and both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are standard. For a fee, Ford is offering its BlueCruise hands-free highway driving feature on all Explorers except the base trim. Two engines are available making either 300 hp or 400 hp. We drove both when we sampled the revised Explorer last summer in Michigan.

2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E GT with Bronze package

2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E

Ford dropped the price of the mildly revised 2025 Mustang Mach-E by $3,500, which is good news if you're in the market for an electric SUV. A new heat pump should improve its efficiency, and there's a Sport Appearance package that lets the base car look more like the much-quicker GT. BlueCruise, Ford's hands-free driving system, adds automatic lane-change functionality, but it still comes with a fee. A connectivity package allows connecting up to 10 devices and adds optional 5G Wi-Fi.

2025 Ford Expedition

2025 Ford Expedition

The Expedition, too, is revised for 2025. Ford's big boy gets a power bump for its base engine to 400 hp and 480 lb-ft, a mild increase for both. The high-output engine maintains its 440-hp rating. There's a new 24-inch infotainment display in every trim and an available folding split tailgate gives you a place to sit when it's open. A new Tremor trim adds 33-inch all-terrain tires, a retuned suspension and 10.6 inches of ground clearance. It comes standard with the higher-output engine.
