The 2025 Lexus LC 500 convertible doesn't have many competitors, and when stacked up against the few that do exist, it's bound to look a little behind the times. No all-wheel drive? No turbos? Yet, this beautiful luxury convertible is a modern classic blessed with a V8 engine that makes up for its unremarkable performance specs with spectacular noises. It's even easier to hear them in the convertible, which gives up little to the coupe in terms of all-around performance.Read full review

2025 Lexus LC Convertible Review
Pros
- Cabin design and interior materials are extraordinary
- Effective at being both sporty and comfortable
- Generous standard features list
- Convertible's top doesn't diminish the LC's quiet refinement
Cons
- Limited interior storage space
- Small trunk in convertible and hybrid
- All-wheel drive isn't offered
- Slow acceleration compared to other luxury two-doors
Overview

Perhaps it should come as no surprise that Lexus' sports car would be perfectly viable to drive every day or take on a long two-person road trip. Available as a coupe or convertible, the 2025 Lexus LC is comfortable, reasonably spacious, and not hard to see out of. The interior is also finely crafted with an attention to detail that will impress every time you climb inside. Even the fuel economy is not bad if you get the hybrid version. The V8 is the way to go if you want more of an event, though, because even if its performance is unremarkable when compared to rivals, it sounds sensational, adding a thick layer of character to an already characterful car. Simply put, the Lexus LC is special.

Edmunds spotlight: Hybrid or convertible, but not both
If the idea of a hybrid-powered luxury convertible sounds like your cup of tea, we regret to inform you that the Lexus LC isn't available as one. The coupe body style offers a choice of a V8 or a distinctive hybrid powertrain, but the convertible is V8-only. Why? Quite simply, the hybrid battery and convertible roof occupy the same place in the LC's body. That fact is also the reason why the convertible and hybrid versions have the same smaller trunk as the V8 coupe.
Competitors to consider
Frankly, the Lexus LC doesn't have any apples-to-apples competitors. The Porsche 911 Cabriolet is a more sharply tuned performance machine and isn't as luxurious. It also costs more. The Mercedes-AMG SL is similar in concept but comes only as a convertible and is far more expensive. (The base SL is only $10,000 more but comes with a four-cylinder engine.) The BMW 8 Series is closest in terms of price and body style availability, though it certainly doesn't have the LC's good looks. None of the above are available as a hybrid.

7.8
out of 10
We drove the 2025 Lexus LC on our test track and on real roads. Our Edmunds team conducts rigorous independent vehicle testing, driving 500,000 miles a year.
Performance
7.5/10
How does the LC Convertible drive? The LC 500 convertible is more about feel and experience and less about sheer performance. For the class, its outright acceleration and braking figures are unremarkable. The LC gets to 60 mph in just over 5 seconds in our testing, which isn't slow but it's not a figure to brag about at the country club. When you're actually behind the wheel, though, the 5.0-liter V8 engine is a real standout, with smooth, linear power all the way to redline and one of the best-sounding exhaust notes today. It's a real joy to rev out.
The steering lacks feel but is quick, direct and firm without feeling heavy. The suspension is tuned more for comfort than handling performance, but it's adequately responsive. Lexus improved on the LC's brake feel, making it easy to control and come to a smooth stop. The transmission is mostly issue-free, though we did encounter the occasional hiccup in low-speed traffic.

Comfort
8.5/10
How comfortable is the LC Convertible? On-road comfort is where the LC 500 convertible really shines. The ride quality is smooth and refined, soaking up bumps without feeling overly soft or bouncy. It doesn't feel quite as buttoned-down as the LC coupe on particularly rough roads, but it's not far off.
The seats in the LC are fantastic, with well-shaped seatbacks that are supportive without feeling confining. They're well ventilated, too, and even have a small warm-air vent below the headrests to keep your neck warm when the top is down.
The LC is quiet too. It's easy to have a conversation with the top up or down. Plus, you get to listen to its wonderful V8. The climate control system works well, though the vents are not ideally placed and require some time to aim just right.

Interior
8/10

Despite the LC's low ride height and long doors, getting in and out is fairly easy thanks to a seat that's not overly bolstered and just about the right height. The power-adjustable steering wheel offers a good deal of adjustment and moves out of the way when the car's off. The driving position is excellent, with well-placed controls and a good view of the gauges and the road ahead.
The rear window is narrow, but it's no worse than what's in other convertibles in this class. Some body types might find the interior tight, but the doors are shaped in a way that provides plenty of elbow room.

Technology
7.5/10
How’s the tech? The infotainment system is easy to use thanks to the touchscreen setup. It also features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and while there is native navigation that worked well, we preferred mirroring our phones to the bright screen. Voice commands work well enough. While the system is not as robust as some of the competition, the LC can understand natural language and can interface with the media, radio, navigation and climate control system.
Lexus includes a decent suite of standard driver aids such as traffic-adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assistance with lane departure warning. We'd like a surround-view camera system, but the combo of parking sensors with a standard backup camera works decently.

Storage
6/10
How’s the storage? We don't expect stylish convertibles like this Lexus to offer much in the way of storage. Even with that lowered expectation, the LC convertible is quite disappointing. The cargo space is barely large enough for a few bags, and it's shallow — you really have to be careful to keep groceries from being smashed. The V8-powered coupe's trunk is bigger.
The cabin isn't any better. Other than the small center console, the LC lacks any real place to put small items such as sunglasses or your phone. The door pockets are tight, as are the cupholders. The only real saving grace is the rear seat. Given its small size, it is better used for cargo than for people anyway.

Fuel Economy
7.5/10
How economical is the LC Convertible? The EPA estimates the LC convertible's fuel economy at 18 mpg in combined city/highway driving. That's just about average for V8-powered competitors. Our car managed an impressive 25.8 mpg on our standardized test route, though conditions with weather and traffic were highly favorable during that drive. In general, we think you'll have little trouble achieving the EPA's numbers.
Value
8/10
Is the LC Convertible a good value? The LC 500 convertible commands a premium over the coupe, but that's generally true for any convertible with a coupe variant. The list of standard features is generous. You also get excellent build quality. Just about every surface is covered with leather, and most of the switchgear is metal or feels like metal. Lexus really focused on making sure the convertible is just as solid as the coupe. Sure, you can find more performance for the price elsewhere, but as pure luxury goes, it's hard to find a better deal in this class.
The LC's four-year/50,000-mile basic warranty and six-year/70,000-mile powertrain warranty are above average for the class. Lexus includes four years of roadside assistance and a year of free maintenance.

Wildcard
9/10
Looks are subjective, but we think the LC 500 convertible is one of the best-looking cars on the road today. It packs flair without being loud or flashy, and it has tons of little touches like mirrored taillights and the checkered pattern on the door that show Lexus really cares about the details. The V8 is a real sweetheart, with an exhaust note that sings like a chorus in perfect harmony. Few automakers manage to put together such a charming and entertaining package.
2025 Lexus LC trim level differences
The 2025 Lexus LC 500 is offered as a coupe and convertible in a single trim level that comes with ample standard equipment. Both body styles have a 2+2 seating arrangement, with a back seat far too small for adults. It should be noted the convertible's rear seats are even smaller than the coupe's. The LC 500 is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 that sends 471 horsepower to the rear wheels through a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Which LC trim does Edmunds recommend?
There are no trim levels, so your main choice comes down to the hybrid coupe, V8 coupe or V8 convertible. Beyond that, we would recommend the Dynamic Handling package if you're looking to the LC to provide an exuberant driving experience. Its limited-slip differential, upgraded brakes, rear-wheel steering and variable-ratio steering are noteworthy upgrades. Opting for a Bespoke Build would also be a good idea if collectibility or getting a higher resale price is important to you.

This car is perfect in every way. The curves, the sound of the eight cylinder engine Roar, the sleekness, the driveability, the gorgeous details, and to top it off I had a wonderful sales rep by the name of Evans who had an extensive knowledge of this wonderful iconic car.

2025 Lexus LC 500 2dr Coupe (5.0L 8cyl 10A)
I was torn between a Mercedes AMG GT 55/63, the BMW i850, and the LC 500 coupe! The Porsche 911 was not even a consideration as I wanted a GT and not a small sports car with driving potential that I will never be able to export. After seeing the LC 500 in person and investigating the Mercedes and BMW- my mind was set on the old, but very reliable, comfortable, and sexy LC 500 coupe … with the Dynamic Handling Package, cold weather package, HUD, 13 speaker stereo system, and beautiful infrared w/toasted caramel interior. Yes there are water vehicles that I cannot use in daily driving and every time I get into the LC 500 I am happy and content. Even just looking at it makes me smile. I love this car, no regrets and of course it is a Lexus, with Lexus reliability.
