2024 Subaru Impreza
I loved my 2014 Impreza Sport so I was happy to purchase the 2024 when my old one needed regular rust repair to pass inspection. Sure, this car, without fail, gets me where I need to go in the snow…that’s why I bought a Subaru. But I wasn’t prepared for the “nanny state” technology. The automatic braking took me by surprise when I tried to pull into a busy, traffic filled road. The car … braked as I was trying to accelerate. Subaru said I could turn this feature off, but it turns itself back on every time the car is started. If my dog shifts his weight in the back seat my car beeps incessantly. Subaru told me I would need to plug all the seat belts in to stop this. The rims are cheap and not made for rough country roads. The remote starting app is not reliable, as there are places I go that this feature will not work. How I miss the auto start button on the key fob of my old Subaru! I just had to push a button in the past and now I need to take out my phone, log into an app (wait for it to “dust of the road maps”) and push more buttons. I cannot discretely start my car at the end of a meeting anymore. And then there’s the seat belt beeping that gets louder and louder and doesn’t stop even when the car is stopped. Of course I should wear my seatbelt to drive 50 feet down the driveway of the farm where I work when delivering items between barns. I had hoped to keep it for ten years, but after eight months I’m trying to figure out how to save enough money to buy a different car sooner.
