Overview
The 2024 Pacifica isn't just Chrysler's versatile minivan; it's also the only model in this American brand's portfolio now that the 300 sedan has been discontinued. This single-vehicle lineup might be an unfortunate reality for Chrysler dealers but there's still a lot to like about the Pacifica. It's available with all-wheel drive and has a plug-in hybrid version that can drive about 32 miles on battery power alone. It's the only 2024 minivan to offer a plug-in powertrain that can really help you save on gas if you frequently charge up your van. Non-hybrid models also get the handy Stow 'n Go seating feature, which allows the second-row seats to disappear into the floor and open up the cabin for just about any cargo you can throw in it.
Cost to DriveCost to drive estimates for the 2024 Chrysler Pacifica Touring 4dr Minivan (3.6L 6cyl 9A) and comparison vehicles are based on 15,000 miles per year (with a mix of 55% city and 45% highway driving) and energy estimates of $2.99 per gallon for regular unleaded in Florida.
The 2024 Chrysler Pacifica typically seats seven but can accommodate up to eight people with the optional second-row bench seat on Touring L trims. Storage space inside the van is plentiful, with cubbies, trays and other thoughtful storage solutions spread throughout the cabin. When the middle seats are in use, the floor wells they fold into for Stow 'n Go double as hidden cargo compartments. But it's for carrying cargo where the Pacifica makes its strongest case. On non-hybrid models the second row easily folds into the floor, and so does the third, creating 140.5 cubic feet of cargo space, all with a very flat floor that doesn't require wrestling heavy seats out of the van. It makes the Pacifica a strong consideration for anybody who regularly needs to haul larger loads.
Competitors to consider
The Chrysler Pacifica competes with other minivans on the market, including the Toyota Sienna, Honda Odyssey and Kia Carnival. Soon, the Pacifica will also compete with the all-electric Volkswagen ID. Buzz, an EV that harkens back to the original VW Microbus made popular in the 1960s and '70s. Check out our test team's Expert Rating below to find out how the Pacifica stacks up to its competitors.

There are two main reasons to choose the 2024 Chrysler Pacifica over another minivan. One is the added convenience and versatility of its Stow 'n Go seating, which allows you to fold the second-row seats into the floor in mere seconds. The second reason is the availability of all-wheel drive. Otherwise, this minivan comes up a little short on fuel economy, performance and comfort.
How does the Pacifica drive? The Pacifica's performance is merely adequate. Its V6 engine isn't going to push your head back, but it's not going to let you down. Acceleration is average for the class, as is its braking performance. This minivan operates at an even keel most of the time. The steering and handling are also unremarkable. Both the Toyota Sienna and Honda Odyssey offer a better experience if you're the one behind the wheel.
The nine-speed automatic transmission works as expected in most situations. We found it sometimes got confused when we were going up or down steep hills, choosing a gear higher or lower than the situation required. It kept the driver a bit busier than we'd prefer.
Comfort
7.5/10
How comfortable is the Pacifica? The front seat padding is firm, but ultimately we found the seats to be comfortable for long drives. The available heating and cooling for the front seats work great too. The second-row Stow 'n Go seats are less comfortable than those in other minivans, however. They also offer less adjustment, which means a little less legroom for the second row too. Third-row comfort is acceptable.
The ride is compliant and generally smooth across varying road surfaces. There is body lean when the road starts to twist, but in this respect the Pacifica is pretty comparable to other modern minivans. The V6 engine noise isn't off-putting like the Pacifica Hybrid's powertrain since it uses a more traditional automatic instead of the Hybrid's continuously variable automatic transmission. But the nine-speed transmission's tendency to shift down extra gears can make the engine noise chime in unexpectedly at times.
Interior
8.5/10
How’s the interior? The controls in the Pacifica are easy to use. The knobs for the radio and climate control are well placed and within easy reach of the driver. Chrysler's additional radio volume and tuning controls on the back of the steering wheel still make a lot of sense to us too.
It's easy to step in and out of the Pacifica thanks to low doorsills, large door openings, tall roofline and well-positioned seats. There's a lot of adjustable range from the driver's seat and steering wheel. Legroom is abundant up front, and large windows all-around provide great visibility and limit blind spots. The optional 360-degree camera system makes maneuvering in tight spots even easier.
The Stow 'n Go second-row captain's chairs are limited in adjustability, so there's slightly less potential legroom than in some other minivans. The third row is snug but still suitable for adults on shorter drives.

How’s the tech? The Pacifica's Uconnect infotainment system excels in its ease of use, features and smartphone integration. It's highlighted by a large touchscreen with crisp graphics and prompt responses to touch and voice inputs. It offers Bluetooth and wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration systems. Multiple USB ports are also on hand for your devices. Available mobile web connections include Alexa pairing and the Uconnect app that allows you to control some van functions via your phone. An optional seatback video system can stream media to the van as well.
Advanced driver aids are plentiful and standard, including forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise (it will stop and go without additional driver input) and lane keeping, to name a few. The optional 360-degree camera is a worthy add-on.
Storage
9/10
How’s the storage? Minivans are about utility and the efficient use of space. The Pacifica, like its peers, has a deep well for storage behind the third-row seat. The manual-folding operation for the third-row seating isn't difficult, and Chrysler offers a power-folding option as well.
Second-row versatility is where the Pacifica stands out. You can fold the clever Stow 'n Go seats into the floor with minimal effort. When deployed, you can also use their underfloor storage spots for additional cargo storage. There are also pockets, cupholders and cubbies for every cherished rock, bottlecap and coin your kids find on the ground.
Speaking of junior humans, car seat accommodation is great. The LATCH anchors are easily accessed. Second-row seats are less adjustable than in the Pacifica Hybrid but still allow decent space for rear-facing child seats and parent access. And buckles are kid-friendly for those in boosters.
The Pacifica, when properly equipped, offers a 3,600-pound maximum tow capacity. That's similar to other minivans on the market.

Fuel Economy
7/10
How’s the fuel economy? The EPA estimates the Pacifica with all-wheel drive gets 20 mpg combined (17 city/25 highway). That's one of the lowest figures in the class. We observed 23 mpg on our 115-mile evaluation route, which is heavy on highway driving — this tells us the EPA estimates should be accurate. However, after 500 miles of mixed driving, we averaged a less impressive 18 mpg. Fuel economy is rated slightly better for front-wheel-drive Pacifica models at 22 mpg combined (19 city/28 highway).
Value
7.5/10
Is the Pacifica a good value? The Pacifica line stretches from the Touring to the top-line Pinnacle. Our test van was a Limited with all-wheel drive, the S Appearance package and other options totaling around $55,000. For the price, we were a little let down. Interior soft-touch surfaces are mixed with hard plastics that bring down the otherwise upscale vibe. Seat and armrest firmness further detracts from what's one of the more visually attractive interiors available in a minivan these days.
Overall fit and finish isn't especially impressive, and a couple of our Pacifica test vans suffered from similar electronic gremlins. The Chrysler warranty package is about average for the class, including five years of roadside assistance.
Wildcard
7/10
Minivans aren't really designed with fun and excitement in mind. They are more about function. If you want the fun, you'll need to pack it along. There is certainly plenty of space for it.
Where the Pacifica stands out is with its Stow 'n Go seats. Being able to flip those second-row chairs into the floor in seconds is a utilitarian masterstroke. If that sort of quick transformation is a feature you'd use often, this may be the van for you.
Which Pacifica does Edmunds recommend?
The midlevel Touring L trim level represents the best value for the regular Pacifica. It gets you a number of extra features for not that much more money than the base model. If you're buying a Pacifica Hybrid, go with the Select trim.
2023 Chrysler Pacifica Touring L 4dr Minivan (3.6L 6cyl 9A)
Love the room the drive from Ontario to Florida proved to be comfortable and problem free.
AC worked great heating worked great. handles in the snow very well and in the heat. Really put to the test and was just pure pleasure to drive everywhere with it. so pleased with every aspect of the vehicle. If this lasts like our Caravan 13 years and 286,000 km really problem free and still 7000 … at trade in. Very pleased with Chrysler
It’s now March 2025 and still absolutely LOVE the Pacifica
My 2023 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid has been at dealer service department for approximately 4 weeks of the four months since delivery. Latest is a red warning light which says "Hybrid Electrical Service Required". Dealer says it needs new transmission and those are backordered indefinitely. Does anyone know if those transmissions are even being produced? Dealer doesn't provide loaners … or rental, and Chrysler Cares won't reimburse rentals until service is completed - but there is no ETA from dealer on when transmission will arrive and so no estimate on service completion. So - No Car / No Rental / No ETA to resolve. Not happy.

2023 Chrysler Pacifica Limited 4dr Minivan (3.6L 6cyl 9A)
This vehicle is overall a solid minivan choice... esp in black with the S-Appearance package... The Limited version took 2.5 months to be delivered from a custom order... with several disappointing omissions with the 2023 Limited...
1. no space saver spare,
2. no tire sealant kit,
3. no power to the third row seating!!!
My 2019 Pacifica Limited offered all of the above.
Otherwise... a … super minivan... a Dad Van!
Overall satisfied and with exceptional gas mileage

2024 Chrysler Pacifica Touring L 4dr Minivan (3.6L 6cyl 9A)
On a hot, 93 degree day, my on-board computer indicated 35 mpg highway!! I purposely drove between 55 and 60 mph as a test to see what it would do. We drive lots of highway miles daily and the gas mileage is consistently over 30 mpg during the simmer months here in New England. Driving tip: when using speed control: click "cancel" when driving down a fairly steep hill and the van will … increase speed to optimize gas mileage. Otherwise, the van will actually brake to hold the selected speed, thus very slightly decreasing mileage.
The seats are too firm, Chrysler needs to soften them up a little, yet the design fits the body well like a good fitting shoe. We looked at all minivans and a Subaru Outback and found that their seats are even stiffer (awful), Subaru being the worst. The "Unconnect" system works well except for one major flaw. The recorded music I ripped from my CD's to a USB drive does NOT appear in proper sequence. It becomes scrambled. Same with my USB movies.
However, when I play the same USB drive in my 2023 Genesis G80, the music list appears in perfect order. I searched numerous Unconnect forums and discovered this to be a universal problem that cannot be fixed. With 50,000 plus miles and five years ownership, I plan to buy another Pacifica. After extensively researching the Pacifica plug-in hybrid to further optimize my gas mileage, I think I'll stick with the front-wheel drive gas version. The Hybrid version appears to have too many issues and a history of reliability problems. According to "Consumer's Report", one out of five have problems. That is totally unacceptable, especially for a $60,000 vehicle. Scary to think the van could stop running on a busy highway where we spend most of our time driving. Another van-buying tip: Chrysler is the ONLY mini-van that has kept a DVD/CD player in addition to multiple USB outlets, TWO movie screens, a 110/115 volt house-current outlet, 12 volt outlet (for our mini-fridge). The Toyota Sienna's video screen does NOT have the capability of mirroring my Android phone where my wife can watch streaming services like NETFLEX, ACORN, BRITBOX, etc. The Pacifica does have "mirroring". The Chrysler Pacifica has it all and I highly recommend this vehicle to anyone who has a growing family and especially for retired senior citizens. Buying an SUV (because you like the looks) is like buying an abbreviated mini-van. I've seen young growing families trade down from a mini-van to a smaller SUV (Subaru & Honda) and then attach a roof luggage carrier. Meanwhile their kids have grown to be six-footers and they gave up all of that mini-van space. They end up stuffing their kids into this SUV which looks like a golf ball.

Not ready to make the jump to a fully electric car just yet but want something more efficient and eco-friendly than a regular gas car? The Sienna sets itself apart from its competitors by offering standard hybrid power. Front-wheel-drive Siennas deliver an impressive EPA-estimated 36 mpg combined, and those with all-wheel drive aren't far behind at 35 mpg combined. But that stellar fuel economy comes at the cost of performance. The Sienna's four-cylinder hybrid system struggles to get up to highway speed, needing an extra second to reach 60 mph compared to other minivans in the class. Find out what the Sienna is like to live with by reading our long-term road test.
The Honda Odyssey is one of our favorite minivans currently available thanks to its comfortable cabin, handy standard and available features, and surprisingly nimble driving dynamics. The Odyssey should be at the top of your list if you want a non-hybrid minivan, but if you want an electrified people mover, you'll need to look elsewhere as the Honda only offers a conventional V6. The Odyssey also lacks an all-wheel-drive option, so the Pacifica has the advantage if you need all-weather capability. Check out our yearlong road test to get an idea what it's like to live with the Odyssey day to day.
The Kia Carnival is stylish and generously equipped. It's also priced considerably lower than its minivan competitors, including the Pacifica. Some of its high points include its comfortable, well-designed interior and available tech features. Where it falls short, unfortunately, is the driving experience. Its lazy steering feel and subpar handling don't live up to the sporty expectations the van's sleek exterior promises. Like the Odyssey, the Carnival doesn't offer all-wheel drive or a hybrid option. Still, if you need the practicality of a minivan but don't want to spend loaded-minivan money, there's a lot to like about the Carnival.
The Chrysler Pacifica is one of just three models in the brand's small-but-focused lineup. While we don't expect any major changes for this family hauler in 2024, Chrysler has improved the Pacifica over the years to be more with the times. Recent changes to the cabin include the addition of Amazon Fire TV to the rear seat entertainment and dual-phone Bluetooth connectivity.
The Pacifica has a trio of competitors: the Toyota Sienna, Honda Odyssey and Kia Carnival. While each of the aforementioned models is newer than the aging Chrysler, the Pacifica remains popular because of its ultra-configurable interior. For some shoppers, sacrificing a few luxuries will be worth it for the gains in utility.
Edmunds says
The Pacifica has always been a strong choice in the minivan segment because of its easy-to-configure interior and impressive suite of family-friendly features. It's older than some of its competitors but remains an Edmunds favorite because of how well it nails the practicality game.
